A Perfect Dream…wedding at Schloss Leopoldskron

February 18, 2011 Weddings Unlimited, Inc.

Only a short distance from the old town of Salzburg, Austria is the 1744 family residence of the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg. It is known today as the originial film location of “The Sound of Music”. Fully restored, its gorgeous location, modern technology and the personal service offered makes Schloss Leopoldskron (www.schloss-leopoldskron.com) a “distinguished jewel” both as a year round residence and venue for international meetings and wedding celebrations.

Can you imagine telling your family and guests that you a getting married here? Having the opportunity to visit this venue and listen to a concert that highlighted selections from “The Sound of Music”, I was instantly transformed  back to World War II and the Von Trapp family’s decision to leave their beloved home and escape to a nuetral country.  If you haven’t watched the five time Academy Award movie…rent it…and I assure you that you will fall in love and want to get married at this breath-taking estate.

The palace offers 12 suites in English mansion style; for a private living experience for you, your family and wedding party.  Should you have a larger guest list, there is also an adjacent historic Melerhof that has 55 classic rooms available for overnight stays.

The property is not categorized as a hotel and is managed as an exclusive private establishment. Guests can enjoy a unique living experience within the historic walls of this originial film setting with a “bed and breakfast” service.

Available on site is the historic Schloss chapel, ideal for small wedding ceremonies. A festive wedding menu of your choice (on-site kitchen) is staged in the Marble Hall that holds up to 130 guests or the Venetian room that seats 36.   Following dinner, The Great Hall offers an atmospheric settting for the celebration after the dinner with the cutting of the cake, music and dancing. There is direct access to the beautiful palace terrace that is often seen in the movie.

What’s available for your guests? Salzburg is an internatioally renowed city, celebrated as “the stage of the world”, and has establishd itself in the 21st century as a modern cultural center in the heart of Europe. With the guidance of your wedding planner (www.weddingsunltd.com) we can plan a wonderful visit for you and your guests.

If a destination wedding is in your future, Joyce, who is a certified destination wedding specialist, is here to guide you through the process.
