Destination Beach Weddings Stateside

May 25, 2012 Weddings Unlimited, Inc.

If you are looking to get married on a beach; there is no better location than in your backyard of the USA! My most recent client has decided to have their event off the southern coast of North Carolina. Bald Head Island ( is a two-mile journey across Cape Fear River from Southport. You can reach the subtropical island only by passenger ferry or private vessel. Once carts and bicycles are the mode of transportation.

Amid the island’s 12,000 acres, you’ll find 10,000 untouched acres of beach, marsh and maritime forest preserves and intimate neighborhoods that respect the natural beauty of the surroundings. Rental properties that include small to large-scale homes, condos and a large Bed and Breakfast are available year round. There are two clubs that offer a variety of activities including golf, tennis, swimming and dining.  A few casual dining establishments and a market are also within a short drive on  your golf cart.

Kayaking, sailing and fishing are amongst some of the popular  island activities. Even getting to see the hatching of the endangered loggerhead turtles, and helping them find their path to the ocean is something you don’t get to witness everyday!

For the wedding couple, they have a choice of the island chapel, pavilion or the beachfront for their ceremony. Their reception can be held at one of the clubs or under a tent at the pavilion. There are a couple of  wonderful caterers on the island that will work with the client to prepare a dream wedding feast at their private estate.

After staying on this island over 6 times, I could go on for hours and several pages about this venue, but  would hope you see this as your dream destination wedding and contact me at or 513-742-1645.
